Recently, GlobalTranz, a leader in freight management services, announced its participation in the SmartWay Transport Partnership. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) formed this partnership with leading companies in the freight and transportation industry to increase energy efficiency in the movement of goods across the nation. Through a unique framework developed by the EPA, partners are able to assess their environmental impact and identify means of increasing efficiency. By joining the partnership, GlobalTranz is demonstrating its dedication to corporate responsibility and securing its reputation as a freight industry leader in environmental protection.
Since its inception, the SmartWay Transport Partnership has prevented the release of 72.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, 59,000 tons of particulate matter, and 1.5 million tons of nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere. In addition, shipping was completed while saving $24.9 billion in fuel costs and 170.3 million barrels of oil. This amount of energy is enough to power about six million homes for an entire year. As a result of SmartWay, individuals experience less smog and fewer greenhouse gases are contributing to climate change.
